Covering Their Tracks Honored for Podcasts – Documentary Category in the 28th Annual Webby Awards

Washington, D.C. – Covering Their Tracks announced today that it has been honored for the Podcasts- Documentary category in the 28th Annual Webby Awards.

Covering Their Tracks is a five-part documentary-style podcast that delves into the powerful story of Holocaust survivor Leo Bretholz’s daring escape from a moving train bound for Auschwitz, his relentless advocacy some 70 years later to hold the French railway company (SNCF) accountable for its role in transporting Jews toward concentration camps, and the profound significance of his efforts, which began when this very same Fortune 500 company sought rail contracts in his own backyard in Maryland. Exploring how storytelling can be used to confront issues of the past, “Covering Their Tracks” offers a captivating look into the story of this international campaign for accountability, which ultimately reached the highest echelons of the French and American governments and resulted in an historic $60 million settlement fund for the Holocaust survivors and their families.

"The team behind Covering Their Tracks podcast is extremely grateful for the opportunity to be recognized as an Honoree by the esteemed Webby Awards,’ said Matthew Slutsky, producer and narrator of the podcast. “Now more than ever, it is crucial that we continue to tell the stories of Holocaust survivors like Leo, to ensure that these extraordinary stories are never forgotten and will continue to inspire and uplift."

“Honorees like Covering Their Tracks are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Claire Graves, President of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 13,000 projects we reviewed this year.”

Covering Their Tracks was produced by Matthew Slutsky in partnership with Blue Chalk Media and Tablet Studios.
